Join us for a workshop to discuss the new Daily ET Tool by Land IQ, Groundwater Credits, Landowner Grants and a Mandatory Well Registration Process.
The College of the Sequoias – Tulare Campus has graciously allowed Mid-Kaweah GSA to use their Pavilion Building to host two workshops! Mid-Kaweah GSA staff will present on four hot ticket topics in the span of two hours. Stakeholder feedback will be requested in regards to a Mandatory Well Registration Process. The MKGSA Advisory Committee and Board of Directors have instructed staff to create a Mandatory Well Registration Process which includes an enforcement structure.
Both workshops will share identical information, so someone would attend only one workshop.

For the last five years, Land IQ has been providing the GSAs with monthly field-by-field estimates of actual evapotranspiration (ET). While highly accurate, the results do not come quickly enough for irrigation management decisions, thus Land IQ developed a new tool that provides growers, managers, and the GSAs with access to daily ET and precipitation results within 1-2 days.
The purpose of this tool is for individual water management decision-making. The tool allows growers to track their water use on a daily basis in relation to a district, GSA, or grower-defined threshold. This will allow growers to adjust water management decisions during the year on a real time basis to achieve, and hopefully not exceed, this threshold.
For consistency, the results of the daily tool will be reconciled against and will match the proven results of the 30-day ET results that are currently being provided to the Subbasin.
Well Registration Public Workshops
The Mid-Kaweah Groundwater Sustainability Agency hosted open computer room workshops at the College of the Sequoias in Tulare to provide hand-on assistance with groundwater well registration.
With the Kaweah Subbasin recently recommended back to the Department of Water Resources, full implementation of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan is critical to remaining out of probation. Well registration supports long-term groundwater sustainability, including reducing subsidence impacts and protecting basin resources. We appreciates the participation of those who attended and the hosting school for all of your support.
State of the Subbasin #3
The Kaweah Subbasin GSAs invited growers and landowners, for an update on SGMA progress and the State Water Board probationary process. Presentations were given by GSA managers, technical consultants and staff on the most immediate priorities the Subbasin is addressing, as written in their Groundwater Sustainability Plans.
