Landowner Opportunities

Kaweah Subbasin Multi-Benefit Land Repurposing Program

New Funding Opportunity

Up to $200,000 per project is available through the Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program (MLRP) in the Kaweah Subbasin for project planning and permitting. The application period is open NOW through August 31, 2025. Visit kaweahmlrp.org to download the RFP, request technical assistance, and register for upcoming workshops.

The Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program (MLRP) provides funding to help transition irrigated agricultural lands to less water intensive uses while also providing economic, environmental, and community benefits. This program invites landowners, communities, and other local stakeholders to help shape regional planning efforts and design multibenefit projects that reduce reliance on groundwater while supporting a viable agricultural economy and creating additional benefits to the region. The Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District (KDWCD) received a block grant in 2022 from the Department of Conservation to design and administer the MLRP in the Kaweah Subbasin. KDWCD partnered with the three Kaweah Subbasin GSAs and Sequoia Riverlands Trust on the grant, and brought in regional partners Self Help Enterprises and SocioEnvironmental and Education Network (SEEN). Valley Eco is facilitating the grant program and providing technical support. For more information on the Kaweah MLRP and funding available to support the development of projects, visit kaweahmlrp.org.
